Good news and the not so good news

The good news being I had such a lovely time in Paekakariki, I felt so chilled out like I was on another planet! So amazing to fall asleep and wake up with the door open out onto the beach listening to the sound of the waves rolling up the beach.. Ahhhh... Bliss.
Met some really nice people last night and had a good time. Lots of deep and meaningful conversations with a random buddhist dude who also was into palm reading and said I had a special personality and a fabulous life ahead of me. I suspect he may have been a little full of b*llsh*te. Not that I doubt I have a fabulous life ahead of me but I do doubt that he knew what he was talking about, haha. There was a swiss guy who was talking about snoring and kept calling it "snorkeling" i had to try very hard not to laugh, it was very sweet!
Anyway I reluctantly left today - the bus picked me up after what felt like a long wait on a main highway at an undesignated bus stop wandering if it would ever come! I have come to a place called Turangi because it is a good place for access to the start of the Tongariro Alpine Crossing which apparently rewards you with amazing views of volcanoes and emerald lakes... GUESS WHAT?? The not so good news is that gales and snow means that due to safety reasons, the crossing is closed tommorow and probably the day after that and the day after that... reception at my hostel is closed so I had to check myself in and I cant use the free hire bikes or kayaks either (the main reason I picked the hostel). On the plus side it's a luuurvely hostel and already met some nice people in the 20 mins I've spent there. Im just a tad pissed off that I cant do the Tongariro crossing as I was reeeeally looking forward to it. POO. I can't afford the time to hang around for days waiting for the weather to improve and there's nothing much else to stay here for so I will leave for Taupo - I've just booked my bus for 1pm.
