Happy belated christmas everyone!

Ummmm....

Since I last wrote I cant really remember what I've done!! Ummm...At the hostel there is a guy who works there and goes by the name of "Cokatoo Paul" and he is absolutely completely and utterly BONKERS and so funny!....I think I love him more than Ray Mears and Bruce Parry. Anyway one day he took us on a bush survival walk, we ate wild flowers, learnt what tree bark was waterproof and tree bark you can light fires with, put fires out with and most essentially, wipe your bum with (including the fact you must save a bit and put it behind your ear incase your finger pokes through the bark mid bum-wipe ha ha!... oh and that you must look for huntsman spiders hiding in the bark pre-wipe!) He pointed out massivo spiders and which they are/where they hide, a tree which holds water, how to make rope out of certain plants... i could go on and on... and we were only on the walk for about an hour! A very important trick he showed us at the end was how to get free beer out of a bar :) After the bush survival walk he was then doing a show in the hostel bar - was a cross between a comedy show and a gig and believe it or not, he plays the digeridoo, 5 drums (with his feet) and the guitar all at the same time... and sings inbetween digeridoo playing! it was SO good!
I walked up to Byron lighthouse and to the most easterly point of mainlaid australia on one of the days... which was absolutely gorgeous but hard work because it was soooo hot! Didnt see any dolphins and I didnt get to go kayaking with dolphins as the day I planned to do it (xmas eve) I ended up getting a job at Byron Holistic Massage Centre http://www.healing-centre.com.au I earned $120 for less than 4 hours of massaging.. woopwoop! However had a client from hell as my first client - he kept feeling my legs and then when I moved away from where he could touch my legs he spread his legs to expose his privates and humped the massage table! Weiiiirdo! He offered me $300 for a handjob to which I calmly and politely replied if he tried anything else I would kick him out.. I should have booted him out already but I didnt want to appear incompetent to the guy that employed me! Anyway he pushed his luck. I kicked him out. The rest of my clients were very nice, one called bobby who had amazing tattoos and said to the guy that employed me that it was the best massage he had ever had! whoopee! A lady called Atmo told me the massage was good but that i am very energetic and i could go a bit slower so that i 'connect' and tune in more with the person! After I finished work I met up with Fanette a girl I had met at the Arts Factory hostel (the second hostel i moved to in Byron Bay) and she was with 3 french guys - noel, julian and jeremie who were all really easy going and nice - we cooked the most amazing feast (french celebrate christmas on xmas eve more than xmas day!) of prawns and salmon to start, fresh mixed seafood with cream, white wine and onions and rice for main meal and then fresh fruit and yoghurt, nuts and chocolate raisins for pudding! i could hardly move afterwards! fanette made a gorgeous rum punch too which had lots of spices like cardamom and cinammon etc in it - it was so good! We went swimming in the hostel pool after we'd eaten and then we went into town in the early house. There were lots of people around - a guy playing manu chao songs in the street and everyone dancing and then we went to the beach where they were playing bongo drums and dancing. We went to paddle in the sea and then decided to go for a swim! We had no swimming stuff so went in the nud which seemed like a good idea on the way in and whilst we were swimming but when we were emerging from the sea in front of hundreds of people and a huge beam of light from the lighthouse it was not so good! haha. Maybe I should have accepted a second chocolate brownie after all. Swimming under the stars was soooo nice though!
On christmas day I got up about 8 and rang home and then went for banana pancakes! mmmm mmmm mm. I sat around on my own for several hours because I was tired and couldnt be bothered to socialise! oops. I had met some dutch girls a couple of days previously on the bushtucker walk at the hostel and they invited me to the beach on xmas day so i went with them about 5pm and we had couscous salad which was a bit grim to be honest but i wasnt that hungry because i had eaten so much the night before and had banana pancakes for breakfast! It was a lovely evening, we ate, had some bubbly, swam, one of the girls drew portraits of everyone and then when it got dark we lit candles which were pretty and then lots of flamethrowers appeared on the beach which was good to watch! I got back to the hostel and the pool was still open and fanette, noel, julian and jeremie were in there again so I went for a swim with them and then rang home again and went to bed! Today I left Byron Bay and i'm now in magnetic island and its beautiful! I really love it so far even though its raining.. i have to go, credit is running out... Happy belated christmas to you all! xx
